Talk about impact.

While you don’t want to berate or shame them, it is important they understand the effect they’re having on the team and business as a whole. It’s also important that they know how valuable their contributions are when they’re performing at their best.
Whether an employee needs some additional training or to shadow a veteran employee is up to you, just make sure they have access to the resources to improve their performance.
Monitor the situation.
Once they leave the meeting, it’s keep tabs on your employee. While that doesn’t mean micro-managing them, it does mean checking in with them on a regular basis and asking for progress reports. When you see an improvement, don’t be shy about letting them know. Praise them for their effort.
